What do wrinkle relaxers do?
Botox and Dysport temporarily relax selected muscles that cause expression lines. At Fleur-De-Lis they are used for facial balancing across multiple areas of the face. Changes develop over several days rather than immediately, with a review around two weeks when appropriate.
What is a wrinkle, and why do lines form?
A wrinkle is a crease, fold or ridge in the skin. Two different things produce them, and they are treated differently. Dynamic lines appear when you make an expression — frowning, squinting, raising your brows — because the muscle underneath pulls the skin into a fold. Repeat that expression over years and the fold starts to stay after the muscle relaxes. Static lines are present at rest and come from the skin losing collagen and elasticity, and from the loss of underlying fat and bone that used to support it.
Wrinkle relaxers work on the first kind. They reduce the muscle pull that creates the fold, which softens the line and slows a dynamic line from becoming a static one. They do not add volume back, which is why deeper creases and flattened cheeks are usually discussed alongside filler or EMFACE. The goal is not to remove your expressions — it is to soften the lines they leave behind.

Your appointment

Small injections may cause brief discomfort, redness, or bruising. Many patients return to routine activities afterward; follow your personalized aftercare instructions and avoid rubbing or massaging injection sites.
Making your results last
Results typically hold for about three to four months. Two things extend what you get from each appointment.
Stay on schedule
Returning before the effect has fully worn off keeps the muscle from resuming its full pull, which generally means a more consistent result over time than letting it lapse and restarting.
Protect the skin itself
A relaxer softens the lines your muscles make; it does nothing for sun damage, texture, or pigment. Daily cleansing and daily sunscreen do more for static lines than any injection. We carry medical-grade cleansers and Sheer Defense SPF 46.
How many units will I need?
The most common question after cost, and the one most clinics avoid answering. Here is the honest version: the dose depends on your muscle strength, your anatomy and the result you want, but the approved doses give you a realistic starting range.

If this is your first time
Most people who are nervous are nervous about one of two things: that it will hurt, or that they will look frozen or unlike themselves. The first is brief — a few seconds of small pinches, and numbing cream is available. The second is a planning question, and it is the reason we start conservatively.
Come in without a number in your head. Come in with the thing that bothers you when you look in the mirror. We will tell you whether a relaxer addresses it, whether something else addresses it better, and what a first treatment should reasonably do. If the honest answer is that injections are not what you need, that is the answer you will get.
Book your two-week review at the same time. It takes five minutes, it is when the result is actually assessable, and it is when small refinements are easiest.
Before and after
In the days before
- If you bruise easily, ask your physician whether it is safe to pause fish oil, vitamin E or ibuprofen for a few days — never stop a prescribed medication on your own.
- Skip alcohol the night before, which reduces bruising.
- Tell us about any recent injections, anywhere on your face, and who placed them.
In the hours after
- Do not rub or massage the treated areas.
- Stay upright rather than lying face-down.
- Skip the gym, a sauna and a hot yoga class for the rest of the day.
- Makeup is fine once any pinpoint marks have closed.

Common questions
How much does Botox cost in New Orleans?
At Fleur-De-Lis Aesthetics, Botox is $16 per unit and Dysport is $7 per unit, with Happy Hour pricing of $12 and $6 per unit on Mondays from 9 AM to 5 PM. Because unit counts differ between products, compare the total cost of the proposed treatment rather than the per-unit price alone.
How long does it take to see results?
Changes develop over several days rather than immediately. We assess the result at about two weeks, which is when the effect is fully in place and any refinement can be judged accurately.
How long do wrinkle relaxers last?
Most patients see about three to four months from a treatment. Duration varies with the product, the dose, the treated area, and your own metabolism, so your interval may differ from someone else's.
Does it hurt?
The injections are small and brief. Most patients describe a quick pinch. A topical numbing cream is available if you are sensitive to needles.
What should I avoid afterward?
Avoid rubbing or massaging the injection sites and avoid lying face-down for the first several hours, so the product stays in the muscle it was placed in. Otherwise most patients return to their usual activities the same day.
Will I still be able to make expressions?
That is the goal. Treatment is planned to soften the lines your expressions create, not to remove the expressions. We discuss how much movement you want to keep before anything is injected.
Can wrinkle relaxers treat deep lines or flat cheeks?
Not on their own. Deep creases at rest and lost cheek volume come from collagen, fat and bone loss rather than muscle pull, so they are usually discussed alongside filler or EMFACE. We assess which applies to your face at consultation.
